Spoilers and "The Cabin in the Woods"

As I said in my last post about Armitage III, It is the policy of this blog to not give spoilers. The only exception being if whatever I'm spoiling is over 10 years old. This is because I don't think it's fair to you to have a great twist or surprise ruined. I don't like to get spoiled so I will extend that courtesy to you. I'll do my best to articulate my point without giving anything away. If I do have to give spoilers, you will see a big bold SPOILER ALERT! to warn you.

Which makes it really hard for me to talk about The Cabin in the Woods.

Make no mistake, you should go see The Cabin in the Woods. I just can't tell you why. Because if I did, I would ruin what makes this movie so great. Which leaves me at something of an imposition.

All right, what can I tell you about it. Well here's the setup. Five twenty-something college students head off to an isolated cabin in the woods (obviously) to drink and party over a long weekend. If that sounds like the beginning of a thousand other crappy horror movies, that's kind of the idea. See, there's a bit more going on in this seemingly shallow horror movie than that premise would lead you to believe.

The Cabin in the Woods is smart, witty, and well-written. It can be both funny and scary, often within one or two scenes of each other. And the last 20 minutes are some of the most glorious last 20 minutes I've ever laid eyes on. If nothing else, see this movie for the last 20 minutes.

And that's pretty much all I can say. If you love horror, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. You will not be disappointed.

Final Score: 5/5
